The Fastback
Commando Fastback 750 Mk2
ca.1970
The first Commando that came
out had a radical new approach to styling, this styling setting a trend in
the motorcycle world with the fairing between rear light and back of the
seat. Its clean lines, with the parallels between exhaust systen,
tank/seat/rea fairing bottom line, and engine tilt to oil tank/front frame
rails/left hand side covers/suspension units were not apreachiated at the
time, but are seen as a classic today, nearly forty years on.

We have no press picture of the very first year, with the round
"Norton Villiers" badges on the tank, but we have some later
pictures

In the end, even the Fastback was supplied with a disc front brake.
Fastbacks were always 750s, there were no 850cc Fastbacks.
