Readers of my reviews know my esteem of Roy Bacons work,
and this booklet is no exception.
It covers the Commando range in a very brief but concise way. Though the
"Commando" book by Duckworth has made this book obsolete for the
collector of Norton literature, it is still a very good, and cheap,
starting point for, say, a person interested in buying a Commando.
With clear pictures, mostly Norton press ones, a short summary of models
and changes over the years, and the usual technical index I love in all of
Bacons books, I think the Norton (Commando) novice can read up on the
models he/she is interested in and decide what he/she wants.
The more exotic models are briefly mentioned, but not covered at length,
but then the chance of you getting offered a genuine Production Racer or a
TX750 Short Stroke are negligeable.
The Norton enthusiast who has Duckworths book can spare himself the small
expense to buy this one, but as a "starter kit" it is very good.
