This is definitely a
must-have! Roy Bacon is one of the few authors who take their
subject seriously, and who research thoroughly before they write. I have great respect for all publications by Roy Bacon,
but his works "Norton Twins" and, equally, "Norton
Singles", stand out from the rest.
Norton Twins is now,
after years of being out of print, available again from our
"Technical Publications" Department (Part# RB002, £22.50). If you are interested in Norton
Twin cylinder models (including lighweights), contemplate buying
one, want an idea what was produced, what is what, what year had
what specification etc, get hold of one. This, for me, is the best
book on the Norton twins.
Apart from giving an overview, chapter by chapter, about the
development of the Norton twins, with many a period picture and
well-researched, accurate information, it also gives details on
specials like Wankel, Wulf and Cosworth.
Worth its weight in gold (or more) is the "Specifications"
appendix, which makes this probably the most-used Norton book in my
library. Many times a question could be answered very quickly by
looking up specifications and carburettor settings in this book,
rather than by taking out all workshop manuals for all years and,
leafing through them, finding the information in different places
all over the manual.
If Norton Twins are
the game, Roy Bacon is the name! |
