Bob Holidays book was
first published in 1979, and as such is one of the first "picture
books" on Norton history. It has a nice assortment of black and
white Norton pictures, from the very beginning to the mid-seventies
when, as the author wrongly states, "by the end of 1975, a
near-75 years of continuous Norton motorcycle production came,
sadly, to a halt." Not only did it go on with the Commando
850Mk3 for another couple of years, but by the time the book was
written, a little pre-production run of rotaries was being assembled
in a disused meat storage facility in Shenstone, Staffs.
This said, it is a nice book; not one that is a "must" in
a Norton library, but enjoyable, even though most of the photos have
been seen in many a publication before and since. |
