Uncle Jim Reynolds is
well known in Norton circles, and a true Norton enthusiast. Not only
that, but he tends to do his homework- I can vouch for that, having
been grilled by him myself.
This book is not just a picture book with a mixture of historical
and studio photographs, but gives an insight
into Norton's history. The chapters, though short, are a good
introduction into Norton folklore for the Norton beginner, and the
pictures mainly very nice.
The downfall, to me, are some little, annoying mistakes in some of
the bikes photographed for this book- why does the Commando
Interstate have the wrong tank transfers, why is the rear brake arm
on the Fastback chromed, what happened to the exhaust pipe of that
short stroke Manx..... But I am nitpicking to mask how much I
enjoyed this shameless indulgence in nice pictures of very desirable
motorcycles!
Not a must have, but a pretty strong recommendation. |
